When samples are taken from a building, we will assess the building materials in order to understand how many samples will be needed to represent the project. This is destructive testing, the 3rd party laboratory will need parts of your building in order to test. Seldom can we provide a hard cost for the survey. We will not know until we are on site, how many samples need taken or how long the process will take. Normally, Homes dont take as long as commercial buildings, but thats not a hard rule. For this reason, surveys are on a time and materials basis.
